Denisse jacket HACK – Adding a button cross
When making a jacket pattern you really have many closure options, from a zipper to the classic button crossover. At the same time you can use snap buttons, hook and eye fasteners, common buttons...
When making the Denisse jacket pattern I decided to leave a clean center front, i.e. no crossing but as you can see below you can add a button crossing very easily in the pattern if you like this style better.
The jacket is clearly inspired by a standard Chanel Parisian tweed jacket design so with this tutorial you have more options to customize your jacket in the style you like. Of course it is a tutorial that you can use as a reference to add the button crossing on any other garment.
The only piece you need to modify to add the button crossover is the front of the body. Remember that the pattern has seam allowance added.
Position the front center line using the pattern notches.

I think it was quite simple and the best thing is that it doesn’t change any of the sewing steps from the original jacket. The only thing different is that you will have to sew on the buttons.
See you soon!
