How to sew a zipper in a seam
In this tutorial we are going to learn how to place a zipper on a normal seam. There are several ways in which we could place a zipper but this method is very simple and leaves a very cute and neat finish.
Step 1. We have prepared the two pieces of fabric where the zipper will be placed.

Step 2. We face the right sides together, put the zipper on top and mark with two pins the beginning and the end of the zipper. The end must be marked above the metal stop to prevent it from being seen when the zipper is opened once it is sewn.

Step 3. We sew the two pieces of fabric using a running stitch and iron the seam open. In this step do nothing with the zipper.
Step 4. Then we place the zipper on top of the open seam, matching the beginning and the end of the opening. We have to leave the beginning of the zipper open so that the zipper puller does not bother us when we start sewing.

Step 5. We put the fabric right side up and start sewing with the machine about half a centimeter of the seam, sewing the whole length at once. When we have sewn the first centimeter we close the zipper without removing the fabric from the machine to be able to sew the rest of the way without problems.
Step 6. We stop a few centimeters before reaching the end.

Step 7. We open the seam with a seam ripper and we finish sewing the zipper.

That’s it! Now we have our zipper.
It is a type of zipper that can go very well for skirts or dresses.
